DICT is a root word which is related speak/speaking.
Valedictory - formal speech of saying good bye.
Dictate - to give orders
Predict - to say that event/action will occur in future
Verdict - decision made after judging the facts.
Maledict - Speaking bad, cursing (mal means bad)
Contradict - Speaking against
